Plantar fasciitis (arch pain)
Plantar fasciitis is a common cause of heel pain. It describes chronic degenerative damage to the connective tissue that supports your arch. It is estimated around 4–7% of the general population experience the condition.
Many risk factors are associated with the condition:
Age – plantar fasciitis most commonly affects people aged 40–60 years.
Flat feet (pes planus).
High arches (pes cavus).
Tight muscles (often calf muscles or small muscles in the feet).
Limb length difference.
Being overweight or obese.
Running/sport.
Prolonged standing or walking.
